Through the beginning weeks of each project, students meet with local community organizations to discuss project ideas, funding and community involvement. At the same time, it remains important to stay focused on the implementation of the design and its construction. Meetings with plumbers, electricians, potential material donors and other local experts and resources take place during this period as well as throughout the duration of the project. Students also meet regularly with Professor Rockhill to propose ideas, discuss real-world implications and make decisions. In some cases, it is necessary to construct a full-scale mock-up of specific building components before a conclusive decision can be made.
