Guided by the vision of KU Design Professor Greg Thomas, and with the help of The University of Kansas and The University of Kansas' Endowment Association, the historic Chamney Farmstead, on the University of Kansas's West Campus, is being revitalized through the creation of the Center for Design Research and the educational programs that will be housed there. A rejuvenation of the farmstead has been evolving since the renovations to the Chamney Farmhouse and iconic Chamney Barn in 2008 and will take a giant leap forward with the new addition.

In conjunction with Studio 804, The City of Lawrence and The University of Kansas aim to enhance the Sunset Hills neighborhood by producing a prominently located accessible, demonstrative, and sustainable commercial building off West Bob Billings Parkway that can serve as a catalyst to both educate the university populous and the community.
