Barber School House
The Barber School House was Studio 804’s first foray into the world of construction. Long time preservationist and professor at the University, Harris Stone, had tuck-pointed the stone walls of an abandoned stone structure near Lawrence with students in his summer courses. In the spring of 1995, Studio 804 designed and built a roof structure to enclose this space. The light steel cover is designed to sway lightly in the wind as it remains independent of the walls it protects. Today it provides a useful place of assembly for various organizations seeking outdoor meeting space in the warmer months.
