The lateral support provided by the basement and first floor slab enabled us to backfill around the foundation walls. Decisions for our landscape design had to be finalized before we began relocating the soil on our site. We were able to use only the fill that had been displaced from the original excavation. This saved money and effort from not having new material brought in from another location.
Drainage is an important issue when designing and constructing our basement. To assist in keeping the interior dry from ground water seepage, we installed a sump pump. We are thankful to Dry Basement Waterproofing Systems in Kansas City for working with us. The pump container also provides an airtight lid to protect radon gas from entering the building.
