Much of week 4 was spent preparing documents, renderings, and layouts which were presented to the city of Greensburg as well as the Greensburg Art Center, the not-for-profit which we are working with, to discuss the strengths of our project. After presenting our proposal, we were excited to confirm that we not need to make any large scale adjustments to our plans. Additionally, after much speculation, hope, and fear, we were able to officially secure a fundamental piece to the entire project: our site. Located just north of the famous Greensburg hand-dug well, one street off of Main, our site, which is actually four contiguous north/south lots, is in the perfect location, combining to provide a broad south exposure, proximity to the new development downtown, and giving us the potential to implement some unique site strategies. With the approval of the city, and the acquisition of our site, we are now in the position to finalize many of the decisions which to this point we have been unable. This week we were able to finalize our order with Tavern Creek Loewen Window Center, one of the world’s premier manufacturers of FSC certified Douglas fir doors and windows. Tavern Creek has worked with Studio 804 in the past, and we are extremely excited to be using their products once again this year. In addition, our attention has focused towards finalizing all aspects of design, with the construction of multiple mock-ups for various exterior and interior conditions as well as the resolution of various construction details.
